Wood

On many of Stressless® collections, natural wood finishes add another touch of luxury. Depending on the model, you can choose from eight finishes. As a natural and renewable resource, subtle variations in wood pattern and color make each piece unique. As well as being attractive, beech makes our furniture extremely durable.

Stressless® uses rotary cut beech veneer in all molded furniture components and lightly steamed beech for solid wood components. The hardness of the wood makes beech furniture extremely durable, and the timber they use is a renewable resource. Beech is a natural material and variations in its pattern, color and texture make each piece of the furniture unique. Although beech is used for both solid and molded components, structural differences may be visible.

paloma

PALOMA is a slightly corrected leather with a combination of dyes and pigments that smooths down some of the structure (the grain pattern) of the leather. The grain structure in Paloma may however vary a little at some parts of the furniture and also minor color nuances may appear in the leather. Natural marks, scars and insect bites are natural and will appear in Paloma. A thin coat of lacquer gives Paloma some protection and simplifies cleaning, but Paloma does not have the same heavy duty quality and protection as Batick. Due to its soft, natural and comfortable expression, Paloma is a very popular choice.

  • Maintain surface appearance and texture by gently wiping your leather once a week with a clean dry cloth, or vacuum with a soft brush. This will remove dust.
  • We recommend that your leather furniture is cleaned and re-protected at least every six months.
  • Leather, like any other natural material, can fade when exposed to direct sunlight over a long period of time. Noblesse, being one of our more natural leathers, is particularly sun-sensitive. Therefore, to minimize fading, avoid placing your furniture in direct sunlight.
  • To maintain the surface properties of the leather, we recommend that you keep a minimum distance of 1 foot between your furniture and any source of heat.
  • Leather is not resistant to animals. Do not allow pets on your leather furniture. Their claws may scratch the leather, which can lead to an expensive repair. Their saliva is acidic and may also deteriorate the leather finish.
  • In order to avoid stubborn stains, protect your leather when using household chemicals e.g. window cleaners, bleach, nail polish, nail polish remover, glue, shoe polish, paint, or corrosive materials. Avoid domestic detergents and ALL products containing solvents and oils, as they may destroy your leather surface. Do not use any traditional household products to remove stubborn stains. Many of these are harsh and cannot be guaranteed safe for use on leather. Do not use a steamer to clean the leather.
  • Certain cosmetics and bodycare products contain solvents and oils. These products are not beneficial to leather, as they may weaken the leather finish over time. Avoid using your leather furniture with wet hair or with freshly applied haircare products or cosmetics. To avoid build-up of these products, please clean the leather regularly as described.
  • Some of the leather dyes have a two-tone color effect (shadow/antique effect). Leather dyed with a two-tone effect may change character faster and wear more unevenly than leather with just one color. This applies in particular to areas of the furniture such as armrests, seat cushions and neck supports, which are exposed to harder wear.
  • The top layer protects the leather and simplifies cleaning, but is nonetheless vulnerable to soiling and wear. If the top layer/top color is destroyed, the leather may deteriorate more quickly. Penetrating spills/damage/scratches are normally irreparable and may result in the top color changing character, cracking or peeling off.
  • Denim clothes and hard textiles such as blue jeans expose the leather to strong wear and may leave color on the leather that is difficult to remove without risking destruction of the top color of the leather. Light leather colors in particular are vulnerable to such color contamination.

batick

BATICK is a corrected, pigment improved and grain embossed upholstery leather, which has had most of its natural marks removed. Batick may have a two-tone color effect to liven up the surface. Batick is resistant to fading, although changes in color will occur over time due to use and exposure to light. A protective layer of lacquer simplifies cleaning. Simple cleaning, excellent utilisation properties and a favourable price make Batick a good choice.

noblesse

NOBLESSE is the most exclusive leather quality offered by Ekornes. It is a full grain semi-aniline, which means that it is dyed all the way through and has only a thin protective topcoat. This allows the leather to keep the natural softness and lustre that characterises a first-class furniture leather. A natural material like Noblesse retains its original grain and structure. Minor color nuances and skin blemishes may also occur. Such individual details could lead to slight variations in different parts of the furniture cover. Although the topcoat provides a measure of protection, Noblesse is the most delicate of the leather qualities that Ekornes uses. It absorbs moisture easily, and is more vulnerable to wear and tear, heat, sunlight, spills and perspiration. Regular maintenance is important to keep its attractive appearance.
